To provide a torque controller for an electric motor, capable of properly controlling the operation state of an electric motor while performing torque control of the electric motor.
The torque controller 10 for the electric motor includes: a set torque generator 21 for generating a set torque Tmc as a target value of a load torque Tl acting to a load, out of motor torque Tm outputted from a motor 11; a disturbance torque observer 34 and a current-torque monitor 37 for estimating a torque estimation value Ttl corresponding to a current Itl for the load torque; and a current controller 26 and a speed controller 33 for controlling so that the torque estimation value Ttl may be converged to the set torque Tmc. The speed controller 33 controls the rotation speed so that the actual rotation speed ωm of the motor 11 may be changed in accordance with a predetermined change in rotation speed.
