Title:
TOW JOINTING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06100246
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To increase drawing strength after jointing the sections of tow to each other by superposing the ends of two strings of tow, twining and jointing tow fibers to each other via the air blown to the superposed section, and providing a current plate for preventing the air from flowing in the breadthwise direction of the tow fibers.

CONSTITUTION: When two strings of tow T (T1 and T2) are jointed to each other, the lengthwise direction of each tow T is kept in agreement with the lengthwise direction of current plates 20 on a placement section 18, and each tow T is guided to a device body 12. Then, after the joint ends of the tow T are superposed on the section 18, a cover plate body 16 is turned to conceal the body 12, thereby clamping and fixing the adjacent sections R of a tow superposed section TJ. Thereafter, the air is blown from the blow holes 32 of an injection nozzle 30, and an undulation like waving is generated on each fiber at the section TJ, thereby twining the undulation with adjacent fibers. Then, the nozzle 30 is caused to travel along guide rods 40 for generating a fiber twined section over the whole of the section TJ. In this case, the flow of the blown air in the breadthwise direction of fibers is prevented with current plates 20, thereby providing the high twined density of fibers.
