Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially simple method of treating a chromium oxide-contg. material, capable of completely preventing the elution of Cr6+ from such a chromium oxide-contg. material as slag generated in the refining of stainless steel, chromium slag generated in the production of a chromium compd., sewage sludge and molten slag of sewage sludge.
SOLUTION: An aq. soln. contg. ≥0.03 wt.% in total sulfur and/or the the sulfur having ≤+5 oxidation number is brought into contact with a chromium oxide-contg. material. Otherwise, the chromium oxide-contg. material is mixed with the slag contg. sulfur and/or the sulfur having ≤+5 oxidation number and then water and/or the blast-furnace slag elution water generated when the blast-furnace slag is sprinkled with water and cooled is sprinkled on the mixture or steam is blown into the mixture. The chromium oxide-contg. material is dipped in the elution water.
