To improve color remaining property in the process of a silver halide photographic photosensitive material having a silver halide emulsion layer in an automatic developing machine, by treating the photosensitive material with water having a specified number of germs.
When a silver halide photographic sensitive material having a silver halide emulsion layer is treated in an automatic developing machine, the photosensitive material is treated with water in which the number of germs such as bacterial and mold is controlled to ≤100/mol, preferably ≤10/mol. The number of germs can be decreased by various methods such as electrolysis, antimicrobial agent, irradiation of UV rays, irradiation of ozone, oxidizing agent, antibacterial agent, antimold agent, ultrasonic waves, and heating. The amt. of water or rinsing liquid in the washing or rising process in the automatic developing machine is preferably controlled to 30ml/m2 to 6l/m2, and the treating time in the liquid is controlled to 1 to ≤10sec. Thereby, the obtd. treatment for the photosensitive material shows excellent improvement in the color remaining property.
