To obtain a treating method of a silver halide photographic sensitive material by which contamination in an automatic washing tank can be largely decreased and which gives excellent maintenance property, and to obtain a silver halide photographic sensitive material suitable for this treating method.

In the treating method, a silver halide photographic sensitive material containing at least one kind of a high-contrast agent comprising a hydrazine deriv. or a five or six-member nitrogen-contg. heteroring is exposed according to an image, developed, fixed and washed with water containing an oxidizing agent. The washing time is controlled to 1 to <20 sec.
