Abstract:

To provide a two-dimensional monochromatic bit plane display device capable of suppressing the movement of an optical center, and making a display with a predetermined brightness resolution.

An LUT control circuit 24 calculates a theoretical brightness value necessary for displaying an image using the brightness values of three subpixels 111, 112 and 113 composing an image 11. A circuit 24 selects the combinations of the values of the brightness control signals of 8 bits in which the difference in brightness among the three subpixels 111, 112 and 113 is 0 (zero). Furthermore, the circuit 24 applies weighting to the brightness of the subpixels 111 and 113 located in the periphery of the pixel 11 out of the combinations, and selects the combination which has the same weighted brightness value. The combination thus selected is the combination in which the movement of an optical center is minimal, and to achieve this combination, the circuit 24 rewrites the look-up table of circuits L1, L2 and L3.
