Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a clear glass composition with extremely high ultraviolet screening (absorbing) ability and high visible light transmittance.
SOLUTION: This ultraviolet absorbing glass is a soda-lime silica-based glass, having the following characteristics: iron content as impurities: <0.10 wt.% in terms of Fe2O3; for the respective contents of ultraviolet-absorbing component and color tone-regulating component, CeO2: 0.7-2.6 wt.%, TiO2: 0-1.3 wt.%, V2O5: 0-0.12 wt.%, sulfur fraction: 0.08-0.30 wt.% in terms of SO3, and CoO: 0-0.0025 wt.%; and, for 5 mm plate thickness, ultraviolet transmittance: ≤10%, visible light transmittance: ≥80%, and main wavelengths: 530-575 nm.
