NEW MATERIAL: Compd. of formula I (wherein A1 and A2 are each an acid, an ester, an amide, cyano or an aryl; and A3 is H, an alkyl, OH, a halogen, a nitro, an ether, A1 or A2) or their salts.

EXAMPLE: N,N'-bis-(4-ethoxycarbonylphenyl)-2-methoxy-benzamizine.

USE: Ultraviolet light absorbers. As a compsn. comprising org. substances decomposed with ultraviolet light, the skin is protected from the ultraviolet light by mixing it in a lotion or the content is protected from the ultraviolet light by mixing it in a plastic container of a coating material for the container.

PROCESS: After a substd. aniline of formula II and a substd. benzotrihalide of formula III in an arom. solvent such as toluene are refluxed for 12-24 hr by heating, the reaction mixture is cooled to 0°C to precipitate hydrochloric acid salt of formula IV and it is removed by filtration and it is separated by treating it with a diluted base to obtain a compd. of formula I when A1=A2.
