Abstract:
To provide an underside-pouring ingot making method capable of decreasing sedimentary inclusion defects and hydrogen blowhole defects within an ingot by controlling the addition amount of baked chaff when adding baked chaff after a termination of fuming of an added heat-generative thermal-insulation material.SOLUTION: An underside-pouring ingot making method is for producing a steel ingot by adding baked chaff 8 to molten steel 5 to keep warm a molten steel surface 6 before terminating a pouring of the molten steel 5 into a mold 1 and after adding a heat-generative thermal insulation material 7 to the molten steel 5, in order to keep warm the molten steel surface 6 within the mold when making an underside-pouring ingot. The timing of adding baked chaff 8 is separated into two of timing of earlier addition and later addition.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
