Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an unsaturated organometallic compound of titanium utilizable for producing a paint composition used in the sea.
SOLUTION: This compound is represented by the formula (R denotes tert- butyl, tert-amyl or 2-ethylhexyl). The compound is produced by reacting methacrylic acid with a tetraalkoxytitanium represented by Ti(OR)4 (R is isopropyl or tert-butyl) and affording the corresponding compound or reacting the methacrylic acid with a compound represented by Ti(OR) (0tAm)3 (R is isopropyl or tert butyl; tAm is tert-amyl) and providing a compound represented by the formula (R is tert-amyl). The compound in which R is tert-amyl or 2- ethylhexyl is produced by converting a compound in which R is isopropyl or tert-butyl into a synthetic intermediate product and then reacting the resultant intermediate product with tert-amyl alcohol or 2-ethylhexanol.
