PURPOSE: To provide an upholstery material with less falling down of piles when moisture is absorbed, with excellent gas permeability and moisture permeability and high-class feeling by backing the rear face of a moquette fabric with a poreless synthetic polymer and providing thereby specified moisture permeability and gas permeability.

CONSTITUTION: An upholstery material is constituted by backing the rear face of a moquette fabric with an angle of inclination of piles of 60-90° and a wt. of 350g/m2 or higher with 5-20wt.% poreless synthetic polymer based on the wt. of the moquette fabric and exhibits a moisture permeability of 3,000g/m2.24hr or larger expressed by JIS Z0208 and a gas permeability of 2cc/cm2.sec or larger expressed by JIS L1096. In addition, the rear face is laminated with a cushioning material with a moisture permeability of 3,000g/m2.24hr or larger expressed by JIS Z0208 and a hardness of 40kg or lower expressed by JIS K6401 and said laminated upholstery material with a moisture permeability of 2,000g/cm2.24hr expressed by JIS Z0208 is also included in the title upholstery material. It is pref. that the pile length of this upholstery material is 10mm or shorter.
