To provide an upper thread cutting equipment in a binding machine that makes residual needle thread on sewn products and sewing needles shorter.

The equipment is equipped with a center knife 22 that is located in the neighbor of two needles 2, 2 and cuts between seams to form a pocket opening 32, a fixed knife 132 located movably, and a moving knife 134 that advances to a catching position where it catches the upper thread between the needle and a sewn cloth and then cuts the caught upper thread in cooperation with an advanced fixed knife when it is reversed. Two fixed knives and a space between the two fixed knives are located. Correspondingly two movable knives and a space between the two movable knives are located so that the center knife is constructed to enter the space of the advanced fixed knife and movable knife.
