Abstract:
To provide a variable resonance muffler that is improved in vehicle mounting efficiency and noise reducing performance.
A part of each end face of a communicating pipe 4 interconnecting an intake duct 2 and a resonator 3 is closed at the same region with a closing plate 14, and a hollow damper 10 in the communicating pipe 4 is set movable in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the communicating pipe 4. A movement of the damper 10 by a drive mechanism 11 positioned in the damper 10 varies an effective passage section area of the communicating pipe 4 throughout the pipe line.
