PURPOSE: To make the display contents exactly visible by selecting character displays such as capital letters of 16×16 dots, or small letters of 8×8 dots or 10×10 dots.

CONSTITUTION: Character data inputted by a keyboard 28 are converted into the patterns of Kanji (Chinese character) font of 16×16, 8×8, or 10×10 dots with the use of a CPU 21 and a Kanjzi ROM 23. The converted 16×16, 8×8, or 10×10-dot pattern data are stored in a display RAM 24 and the corresponding storage area divided into the display RAM 24. Then they are selected and read out as necessary and displayed by an LCD unit 27 through a driver unit 26.
