To hold an M/T vehicle low speed traveling, and particularly improve operability at an intersection and the like by feed back-controlling engine rotation so as to set an engine to a target rotating speed near idling rotation when a vehicle is traveling driven by the engine and an acceleration opening is fully closed.
When a flag is changed into 1, present engine rotating speed Ne is subtracted from a first target value RPMtarget at an additional point 26, a rotating speed difference ΔRPM is found out, and a P-correction item AIGp and an I-correction item AIGi are found out. An adding value AIGfd=AIGp+AIGi is found out at an addition point 29, and it is added on a first reference opening AIGbase as an output AIGAccel at an addition point 25. In a comparative unit 26, the output AIGAccel is compared with an acceleration opening CoolAP on the basis of a water temperature Tw, and large one is set as a dummy acceleration opening QbaseAP. Since the dummy acceleration opening QbaseAP is a value worked in an electronic control unit independently of a real acceleration opening, engine rotation makes free even if the real acceleration opening is fully closed, and thereby, a vehicle can be traveled at low speed.
