To provide a highly practical steering system of independent operation type steering system.
The steering system has a pair of operation members which are operated independently from each other and determine the turning quantity component for the target turning quantity of a wheel and the restoring force for restoring each of the pair of operation members to the reference position based on each operation quantity of the pair of operation members. At least one of the steering gain set corresponding to each of the pair of operation members when determining the turning quantity component, and the restoring force gain set corresponding to each of the pair of operation members when determining the restoring force is variable according to various kinds of parameters. According to the system, the steering characteristic of the system can be set in a relatively free manner. For example, when the steering gain is changed according to the operational angle δ of the operation member, the contribution of the turning quantity component when determining the target turning quantity can be changed according to the operating position.
