A vibration actuator 10 of the present invention includes: a vibration part 13 that is held so as not to be able to rotate relatively to a base part 8 and is vibrated by an electromechanical element 11; a relatively moving part 14 that rotates relatively to the vibration part 13 by the vibration; and a holding member 17 that holds the relatively moving part 14, rotates integrally with the relatively moving part 14, and is held so as to be able to rotate relatively to the base part 8 by sandwiching a rolling motion member 20. The holding member 17 is made of aluminum. On a contact part of the holding member 17 with the rolling motion member 20, surface coats 17d and 17e, of the hardness of 700, are formed.
