An electromagnet 3 is arranged with a prescribed interval held on one side of a steel sheet 1 that is carried by a carrying device from a hot dip zinc vessel and runs in a vertically stretched state. A position detector 4 is arranged at a position that is the opposite to the electromagnet 3 across the sheet 1 with a prescribed interval held, detects the displacement of the steel sheet and supplies it to a controller 5. The controller 5 generates an exciting signal to excite the electromagnet 3 so that the displacement of the sheet 1 which is supplied from the detector 4 may be minimum and controls the attraction of the electromagnet 3. Also, a cover is provided to entirely surround the detector 4.
