PURPOSE: To provide images facing each other, regardless of a place where an image pickup part is installed by optically correcting geometric distortion without depending on any arithmetic by providing an image forming plane for freely adjusting a position and a facing angle to an objective lens.

CONSTITUTION: An objective lens 1 and an image forming plane 2 are constituted so as to freely adjust the counter relation, namely, the counter positions and the counter angles. The image forming plane 2 is fixed by a video camera 3 and a lens hood 5, supported by the video camera 3 and simultaneously shaded between them. For a video camera apparatus 10 installed at any prescribed place, optical adjustment is performed as auxiliary work suitably for the using state so as not to generate any geometrical distortion in the image. With this adjustment, the image of a number plate without any geometrical distortion can be provided on the image forming plane 2. When this image is closely photographed by the video camera 3 positioned while being faced to that image from the back, a video signal with no geometrical distortion can be provided, at a following image processing, the correction processing of geometrical distortion to take long time is not required at all, and it is enough only to perform target image processing.
