Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable a user to automatically set an appropriate tone without the cumbersome setting of a tone by providing a tone automatic discriminating means, obtaining tone information and automatically setting the tone of output voice.
CONSTITUTION: Tone information is obtained by a tone automatic discriminating means and the tone of output voice is automatically set. In other words, the information outputted from an input section 1 is language-processed, such as a construction analysis of a sentence, by referring to a dictionary 3 and grammar rules in a language analysis section 2. During this process, a part of speech- tone table 4 and a response-tone table 5 are used to automatically set the tone. The information, for which rhythm generation is completed in a rhythm generating section 6, is sent to a voice synthesis section 8 and a display section 9. A phonetic symbol string and additional information are displayed by the section 9 and voices are outputted from voice output section 10. Thus, the user compares the displayed information on the section 9 and the voice from the section 10 and the voice is modified to have a desired tone by a tone modifying section 7.
