Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep excellent touch feeling which a fibrous base material has by depositing water-absorptive polymer particles on a fibrous base material and setting the average particle size of the water-absorptive polymer particles deposited on the base material to be within a specified range.
SOLUTION: A water-absorptive composite body to be used for various kinds of sanitary materials is produced by depositing water-absorptive polymer particles on a fibrous base material and the average particle size value of the water-absorptive polymer particles deposited on the base material is set to be within 5-150μ m range. The water-absorptive polymer particles are produced by polymerizing polymerizable monomer unit containing organic unsaturated carboxylic acid or its salt as a main component. To produce the water- absorptive composite body by spreading an aqueous solution containing polymerizable monomer unit containing organic unsaturated carboxylic acid or its salt as a main component on a fibrous base material in liquid drop state and completing polymerization of the monomer on the base material, the monomer-containing aqueous solution is made to be fine drops by blowing a gas to the aqueous solution immediate before the solution is spread on the fibrous base material.
