Abstract:
To provide a water electrolysis apparatus capable of preventing electrolytic efficiency from being degraded; and to provide a method for controlling the water electrolysis apparatus.SOLUTION: According to this embodiment, a water electrolysis apparatus includes an electrolysis cell and a pump. The electrolysis cell electrolyzes water supplied to an anode pole to generate hydrogen and oxygen by using a solid polymer electrolyte membrane having one surface thereof provided with the anode pole and having the other surface thereof provided with a cathode pole. The pump discharges, from a discharge port side, water supplied to the anode pole from a supply port of the electrolysis cell to make the pressure of water negative with regard to atmospheric pressure.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
