Abstract:

PURPOSE:To shorten the full length and the width of an internal combustion engine to miniaturize it and be light weighted by arranging a water pump sprocket in the same plane with a timing chain, and providing a water pump on the end face of a cylinder block in a timing chain cover. CONSTITUTION:A chain for an oil pump is wrapped round an oil pump driving sprocket. The oil pump sprocket of the oil pump is arranged on the same plane with the chain for the oil pump. For driving a water pump 60 with a timing chain 58, the water pump sprocket 62 of the water pump 60 is arranged on the same plane with the timing chain 58. The water pump 60 is provided on the upper part of a front wall as the end face of a cylinder block in a timing chain cover 64 surrounding the timing chain 58.
