To provide a water treating method in which ozone is generated on the surface of an electrode by using a relatively small amount of energy, and the water to be treated is sterilized and cleaned.
A pair of electrodes 6 and 7 are dipped in the water to be treated, a negative potential is applied to one electrode 6, and a positive potential is applied to the other electrode 7 to form a modified part on the electrode 6 surface in the first stage of this water treating method. Meanwhile, a positive potential is applied to the electrode 6 and a negative potential to the electrode 7 after the first stage, hence ozone is generated on the electrode 6 surface to elute the modified part, and a modified part is formed on the electrode 7 surface in the second stage. The first stage and second stage are repeated.
