PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wet type image forming apparatus that can suppress fixing defects resulting from a carrier liquid.SOLUTION: A wet type image forming apparatus 100B forms a toner image on a recording medium 90 by using a liquid developer containing toner particles and a carrier liquid, and includes non-contact heating means 60 for heating a toner image 93 transferred onto a transfer surface 91 of the recording medium 90 without the contact with the toner image 93, and charging means 70 for charging the toner image 93 transferred onto the transfer surface 91. The non-contact heating means 60 and charging means 70 charge the toner particles while heating the toner particles to the toner softening temperature or higher to form the toner particles into a film so that the toner particles are separated from the carrier liquid, and thereby fixing the toner particles formed into a film to the transfer surface 91.
