PURPOSE: To form a skirt part which is excellent in a sucking function and an oil-holding ability, by employing an unwoven cloth sheet consisting of fine fiber with diameter of 10μm or less.
CONSTITUTION: In a wick employed in a kerosene stove comprising a combustion part 1 and a skirt part 2, the skirt part 2 is formed by an unwoven cloth sheet consisting of fine fiber with diameter of 10μm or less. The fine fiber may be produced by a process which is known as, for example, a melt blow process, a melt blow forming process, or a jet spinning process, and in which thermoplastic synthetic resin is molten and spun, the resulting work is formed into fine fiber by means of high speed gas to collect them in the shape of a sheet. The average diameter of monofilament is 10μm or less, and microfine fiber with diameter of preferably 5μm or less is most suitable. Spinning is made so that fiber is orientated in the same direction as much as possible, and it is desirable to form the skirt part such that the orientating direction of most of fiber extends vertically (in a direction in which kerosene is sucked down).
