To provide a remote ordering device for accepting orders, determining the status of these orders and access information regarding these orders, and allowing a customer to pay using either cash or credit card.
A remote ordering system 10 includes an input device and a drive-up ordering station 14. The input device is away from the drive-up ordering station 14 and used from within a vehicle. The input device has a keypad, a battery, a first memory, a first processor and a transmitter. Customer identification numbers are stored in the first memory and orders are transmitted to the drive-up ordering station 14. The drive-up ordering station 14 has a visual menu with explanations for various food items and ordering numbers. A receiver 32 is tuned to the transmitter. The station 14 has a second processor for decoding information received from the transmitter through the receiver 32 to create decoded information.
