To provide a wound dressing which is excellent in water absorbency and water retentivity, stably adheres on a wound surface having a complicated shape by loosely chemically bonding to a living body, protects the wound part under a moistening environment during a period till epidermalization, is naturally separated with the epidermalization, and has property to promote wound healing without the stay of a base material.
The wound dressing protects the wound surface during the period till the epidermalization and, simultaneously, promotes the epidermalization by allowing the wound part to be under the moistening environment relating to the wound such as a burn, a scratch, and a skin sampling wound by the water absorbency/retentivity of polysaccharide derivative constituting the wound dressing. The material revolutionarily heals the wound by being kept on the wound surface for a fixed period by the loose bonding between the polysaccharide derivative and the living body so as to hold the wound surface under the moistening environment during the period till the epidermalization.
