Title:
ZINC HALOGEN BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS60258872
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To supply equal amounts of electrolute to the back space sub-chambers of a zinc halogen battery of the bipolar type by installing distribution chambers between a supply-side manifold and the back space sub-chambers respectively.

CONSTITUTION: A zinc-chlorine battery of the bipolar type is constituted by installing a zinc plate 2 and a chlorine plate 3 facing each other through ribs 4a and 4b in a frame body 1 to form an interelectrode part 5 consisting of sub- chambers 5a∼5c and dividing a back space 7 formed adjacent to the back surface of the interelectrode part 5 into three sub-chambers 7a∼7c by current collectors 6a∼6d. And, electrolyte 8 is supplied into the back space sub-chambers 7a∼7c through distribution chambers 15a∼15c which are located above a supply- side manifold 10 and have an increased cross sectional area. Consequently, equal amounts of electrolyte can be supplied to the back space sub-chambers 7a∼7c by preventing any turbulent flow, thereby achieving improved battery efficiency.
