Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical instrument able to correct image blur such that the influence of vibration resulting from the movement of an apparatus is restricted, and a control method for the optical instrument.SOLUTION: The optical instrument with an imaging optical system able to vary magnification comprises; vibration-proof control means for correcting image blur due to the imaging optical system by moving a correcting member movable in a direction orthogonal to the optical axis of the imaging optical system on the basis on blur detected by blur detecting means. In the case where the magnification of the imaging optical system is being changed, the vibration-proof control means narrows the movable range of the correcting member movable in a direction orthogonal to the optical axis of the imaging optical system, compared to the case where the magnification of the imaging optical system is not being changed.
