PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming system that eliminates complexity in inputting passwords and has high security performance.SOLUTION: An image forming system of the present invention is an authentication printing (confidential printing) system including a PC that transmits, to a printer, a set of print data and first encrypted data in which an authentication ID is encrypted with a common key, and displays, as a bar code, second encrypted data in which the common key and authentication ID are encrypted with a public key received from a portable terminal device, where the printer receives the common key and authentication ID decrypted with a secret key from the portable terminal device, and prints print data in which the received authentication ID matches with an authentication ID obtained by decrypting the first encrypted data with the received common key.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
