To provide a medical device capable of preventing a cutting part from operating in portions other than a lesioned portion.SOLUTION: A medical device 10 includes: a long shaft part 15; a cutting part 40 provided at a tip portion of the shaft part 15; a guide part (a tip tube 32) provided in the shaft part 15 and having a lumen (a tip lumen 33); a control unit 72 for switching between an operable state and an inoperable state of the cutting part 40; and a second device to be inserted into the guide part. The second device has a first cutting marker portion 60. The tip lumen 33 has a detection sensor capable of detecting a passage of the first cutting marker portion 60 in an axial direction. The control units 72 places the cutting part 40 in the inoperable state until the passage of the first cutting marker portion 60 is detected by the detection sensor 34 and places the cutting part 40 in the operable state when the passage of the first marker portion 60 for cutting has been detected by the detection sensor 34.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
