Abstract:
An optical unit 1 of the present invention includes a light source 5 configured to irradiate an object with light, a first polarizing element 11 configured to convert emitted light emitted from the light source 5 to linearly polarized light, a second polarizing element 16 configured to cause reflection light from the object to transmit through the second polarizing element 16, a polarization axis of the second polarizing element 16 being 90° orthogonal to a polarization axis of the first polarizing element 11, a first wavelength plate 12 disposed to overlap with the first polarizing element 11 and configured to convert the emitted light from the light source to circularly polarized light or elliptically polarized light, and a second wavelength plate 17 disposed to overlap with the second polarizing element 16, a phase difference of the second wavelength plate 17 being equal to a phase difference of the first wavelength plate 12. The first wavelength plate 12 is revolvable with respect to the first polarizing element 11 disposed to overlap with the first wavelength plate 12 and/or the second wavelength plate 17 is revolvable with respect to the second polarizing element 16 disposed to overlap with the second wavelength plate 17.
