Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical photon detection apparatus and a photon detection method capable of detecting photon at high counting rate with low jitter free from after pulse while suppressing occurrence of dark count.SOLUTION: Disclosed photon detection device includes: a photon detection part which has a long plate superconducting strip line whose plate surface is photon detection plane bias current supply means that supplies a bias current to a superconducting strip line; and a single flux quantum comparator circuit capable of detecting a magnetic flux which scatters from the superconducting strip line during photon detection. The bias current supply means flows the bias current, with a magnitude greater than 0% but less than 60% with respect to the critical current value of the superconducting stripline, to the superconducting stripline.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
