Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reaction tool for forming openings in an aircraft fuselage joint.SOLUTION: A joint 100 includes (i) a first side 126 from which a forming tool 1002 is to be applied at a plurality of opening locations 106 and (ii) an opposing second side 128. A reaction tool includes a plurality of connectors 152 configured to couple to the joint second side, and a reaction bar 158 coupled to the plurality of connectors. The reaction bar is configured to extend across the plurality of opening locations. The reaction tool also includes a plurality of reaction members 130 coupled to the reaction bar. Each of the reaction members includes a fixing surface 144 configured to couple to the joint second side such that each fixing surface at least partially surrounds a corresponding one of the plurality of opening locations.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
