Abstract:

Emulsion type lotions excellent in pharmacological activity, stability of the principal agent and physical stability which are medicinal compositions for topical application containing activated vitamin D¿3? and being in the form of an emulsion with a viscosity appropriate for the application to the hair. These lotions consist of: (a) a therapeutically efficacious amount of activated vitamin D¿3?; (b) oily phase components containing solid fat components comprising white petrolatum and a higher alcohol and a liquid oil component comprising squalane; (c) aqueous phase components containing ionic polysaccharides; and (d) a nonionic surfactant; and are characterized by: (1) the content of the ionic polysaccharides amounting to 0.3 to 1.0 parts by weight of the whole preparation; (2) the content of the higher alcohol amounting to 0.2 to 1.0 parts by weight of the whole preparation; and (3) the nonionic surfactant having an HLB of 10 or above.
