Disclosed is an air cleaning device, comprising an upper shell, a fan, a taper pipe assembly, a water tank and an air guide ring. An air outlet is formed in the top of the upper shell. A driving motor is fixedly arranged in the upper shell. The fan is arranged in the upper shell and is fixedly connected to a motor output shaft of the driving motor. An upper shaft of the taper pipe assembly is connected to the motor output shaft by means of a coupling mechanism. The driving motor may drive the fan and the taper pipe assembly to rotate synchronously. The water tank is arranged below the upper shell. The air guide ring is fixedly connected to the upper shell by means of an air inflow piece and is arranged on an edge of the top of the water tank. The air inflow piece has an axial extension part. The diameter of the axial extension part is less than that of the water tank, so that an annular air inlet is formed between the upper shell and the air guide ring. In the present invention, by means of ingeniously utilizing the principle of aerodynamics, airflow can pass through a spraying area twice, so that a larger air-liquid contact area can be achieved, thereby improving apparatus efficiency. Further disclosed is an air cleaning method.
