Abstract:
An apparatus for treating a plastic-packaged food waste is provided with: a vacuum fermentation drying device 3 in which a food waste packaged with a plastic packaging material is placed in a closed container while being packed in the plastic packaging material, then the food waste is agitated while heating at a temperature falling within a predetermined temperature range under a reduced pressure to microbially decompose only an organic component in the food waste utilizing a microorganism, and then the resultant produce is dried to a reduced volume; and a separation machine 4 in which the volume-reduced dried product produced by the microbial decomposition is separated from the packaging material that cannot be microbially decomposed. According to this configuration, even when a plastic-packaged food waste is charged while being packaged, only an organic volume-reduced dried product can be obtained.
