Abstract:
An article management system that manages one or more articles present within an area, the article management system including: a wireless tags attached to the article within the area, the wireless tag storing unique tag identification information and activating upon obtaining energy from electrical waves in the vicinity; a portable terminal that moves within the area and receives the tag identification information from the wireless tag; and an information processing device that is capable of communicating with the portable terminal, the information processing device storing article information for identifying the article within the area, and the tag identification information of the wireless tag attached to the article, in association with each other. The information processing device specifies the position of the article present within the area on the basis of the tag identification information of the wireless tag as received from the portable terminal, and position information pertaining to the portable terminal.
