Abstract:
An artificial lignin polymer of the natural β-0-4 type in which one of the terminal groups is a phenolic hydroxy group, which is one of the characteristics of lignin, and which has three carbon atoms in the &agr -, β-, and &gammad -positions. A monomer represented by the general formula (4) is condensation-polymerized in the presence of a base. The polymer obtained is reduced.
