Abstract:

Disclosed is an attachment structure for a vehicular exterior member which enables repairs only by replacing the exterior member to the extent possible when the exterior member attached to an outer panel is damaged in a minor collision. The attachment structure includes an attachment portion (7) which is projected to engage and retain a clip on the backside of a lower garnish that is attached to the outer panel of a tail gate with the clip. The attachment portion is made up of a proximal end portion (8) on the side of a plate-shaped member of the lower garnish and a projected end portion (10) on the outer panel side, which is coupled to the proximal end portion via a link portion (9). The link portion is formed so as to be ruptured when the lower garnish is damaged in the event of a collision. At the time of the collision, the proximal end portion and the projected end portion can be displaced by a gap corresponding to the respective length thereof in the direction of projection. Accordingly, this allows only the exterior member to be deformed in the event of such a small collision that may not cause the proximal end portion to contact the outer panel or the projected end portion to contact the plate-shaped member. It is thus possible to prevent the attachment portion from pushing against and thereby deforming the outer panel.
