Abstract:
Provided is an authentication device which carries out an authentication of a person to be authenticated, said device comprising: a pressure distribution acquisition unit which, on the basis of outputs of a plurality of pressure sensors which have been disposed upon a body to be grasped which is grasped by a human hand, acquires a pressure distribution in a surface of the body to be grasped; a grasp characteristic extraction unit which, from the pressure distribution which has been acquired when the person to be authenticated has grasped the body to be grasped, extracts grasp characteristic data which denotes a characteristic of a manner of a grasp of the person to be authenticated; a comparison information storage unit which pre-stores grasp characteristic data for comparison; and an authentication unit which compares the grasp characteristic data of the person to be authenticated with the grasp characteristic data for comparison, and if the grasp characteristic data of the person to be authenticated has been evaluated as matching the grasp characteristic data for comparison, assesses that the person to be authenticated is a rightful person.
