Abstract:
The present invention relates to an authentication system and to an authentication method therefor in a wireless LAN environment. Specifically, the authentication system includes: a first wireless LAN connection device for providing wireless LAN service to a connected terminal device as a target; a terminal device for delivering an authentication request to a second wireless LAN connection device if the second wireless LAN connection device is to be used for the connection while the wireless LAN service is received via the connection of the first wireless LAN connection device; and the second wireless LAN connection device for confirming the first wireless LAN connection device on the basis of the identification information of the authentication request delivered from the connection-switched terminal device, obtaining the authentication information of the terminal device from the confirmed first wireless LAN connection device, and authenticating the terminal device on the basis of the obtained authentication information. Therefore, since a terminal is authenticated on the basis of the authentication information of the terminal device, which is pre-stored in a wireless LAN connection device pre-connected to the terminal device, without a link with an authentication server, wireless LAN service may be continuously guaranteed even when the authentication server has failed.
