Abstract:
An automatic storage system (1) has at least one transporting/transferring mechanism (20), shelves (30) (30L, 30R), and at least one transporting mechanism (40) (40L, 40R). The transporting/transferring mechanism (20) has at least one holding mechanism (21) for holding work (object to be treated or carrier) (50), is capable of holding and transporting the work (50) in a predetermined region, and is capable of placing the work (50) at any desired position within a range reachable by the holding mechanism (21). The shelves (30) (30L, 30R) store the work (50) within the range reachable by the holding mechanism (21). The transporting mechanism (40)(40L, 40R) transports the work (50) to within the region reachable by the holding mechanism (21).
