Abstract:
A ball end mill in which a ball blade (3) forms a convex shape in a direction of tool rotation with respect to a line connecting the center of rotation (O) of a tool in a front view and the outer end (3o) of the ball blade (3) in a radial direction. In the ball end mill, the rake angle (γ) of each portion of the ball blade (3) is set in a range of -10º to 0º and the negative value of the rake angle (γ) is increased from the tip of the ball blade (3) and the outer end (3o) of the ball blade in the radial direction towards the midpoint in the radial direction and maximized substantially at the midpoint in the radial direction.
