Abstract:

A ballast-water treatment device equipped with: a filtration device having a filter for filtering seawater; an ultraviolet irradiation device for irradiating seawater, which has been filtered by the filter, with ultraviolet rays; a first channel for supplying seawater, which has been filtered by the filtration device, to the ultraviolet irradiation device; a water-discharge channel for discharging seawater remaining in the filtration device; a first valve provided in the first channel; a second channel for supplying seawater discharged from the ultraviolet irradiation device to a ballast tank; and a control unit for, before the seawater filtered by the filtration device is supplied to the ultraviolet irradiation device, cleaning the filter by closing the first valve and using seawater introduced into the filtration device.
