Abstract:
A drive unit controls a switch that is inserted in a current path between a secondary battery and an inverter for driving a motor. A first abnormality detection unit, upon detection of an abnormality of the secondary battery, instructs the drive unit to turn off the switch. A second abnormality detection unit is disposed in parallel with the first abnormality detection unit and, upon detection of an abnormality of the secondary battery, instructs the drive unit to turn off the switch. When an instruction prohibiting discharging of the secondary battery from being stopped has been given by an ECU, the first abnormality detection unit withholds the switch turn-off instruction to the drive unit even when the unit has detected an abnormality of the secondary battery. Regardless of the instruction from the ECU, the second abnormality detection unit instructs the drive unit to turn off the switch when a predetermined period of time has elapsed after detection of an abnormality of the secondary battery.
