Abstract:
An electric power steering control apparatus (15) which assists a driver in steering, using a motor (6), and is equipped with: a target torque calculation unit (21, 22) that calculates the target value of steering torque; an assist torque calculation unit (24) that calculates assist torque for bringing the steering torque close to the target torque according to a deviation between the target torque and the steering torque; a motor drive unit (42) that drives the motor according to the assist torque, said motor acting on a steering system mechanism (100) that causes the steering angle of a vehicle to be displaced; and a follow-up performance changing unit (40) that detects an abnormality in a torque sensor which detects the steering torque. Upon detecting the abnormality, the follow-up performance changing unit (40) causes the follow-up performance to decrease when the assist torque calculation unit brings the steering torque closer to the target torque than when no abnormality is detected in the torque sensor.
