In this bending system (10) and method for using the same, the bending system (10) comprises a bending robot (22) which is for assisting bending of a workpiece (W) and which is provided between a press brake (12) and a prescribed setting area (SA) in front of the press brake (12). The bending robot (22) has a robot hand (26) which holds the workpiece (W) that is on a pallet (14) set in the prescribed setting area (SA). Provided in front of and above the prescribed setting area (SA) is an imaging unit (30) which images the workpiece (W) on the pallet (14) from diagonally above the workpiece (W). Provided in an upright manner in front and to the left of the prescribed setting area (SA) is a first lighting unit (32) which shines illumination light toward the imaging range of the imaging unit (30). Provided in an upright manner in front of and to the right of the prescribed setting area (SA) is a second lighting stand (60) which shines illumination light toward the imaging range of the imaging unit (30).
