Abstract:
A novel blast furnace granulated slag having a mass per unit volume of 1.45 kg/liter or more and a fineness modulus of 3.7 or more; and a method for producing the blast furnace granulated slag with ease and good efficiency which comprises allowing a blast furnace slag having a temperature of 1350 to 1400 ° to flow out at a flow rate of 2 to 5 t/min, spraying water towards the slag at a flow rate of 5 to 8 m/sec and at a ratio of amounts in weight of water/slag of 7 to 15. The blast furnace granulated slag has a great granule diameter and a high density as compared to a conventional blast furnace granulated slag, and thus can be suitably used also as a fine aggregate for concrete after the adjustment of granule size by crushing, grinding or the like.
